Venus and Serena Williams will play doubles at Wimbledon together this year

The legendary sisters, who've won doubles at Wimbledon six times together, last entered and won in 2016

They've received a wildcard for the tournament, which begins on June 29 and runs until July 12

Venus and Serena Williams will play doubles at Wimbledon together this year for the first time in a decade after receiving a wildcard.

The tournament's official Instagram account shared the news alongside a photo of the two on the court together, writing, "Back together, at Wimbledon."

The legendary sisters have won doubles at the championships six times together over the years, their first victory coming in 2000 and their latest in 2016, the most recent year they entered, the BBC reported.

Neither Venus nor Serena has been included on the list of singles wildcards, per the broadcaster, but there is one spot still free.

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships run from June 29 to July 12 in London, and the women's doubles will feature 128 players.

The announcement comes after Serena, 44, made her comeback at the Queen's Club in London earlier this month, almost four years after her last professional match at the 2022 US Open.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and her doubles partner, Canadian Victoria Mboko, beat Erin Routliffe of New Zealand and American Nicole Melichar-Martinez in their first match on Tuesday, June 9.

Serena's husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughters, Olympia, 8, and 2-year-old Adira, were there to cheer her on.

The tennis legend was forced to withdraw, however, after Mboko picked up an injury in a singles match.

"I learned so much from you and I'm sorry our tournament came to an end prematurely," the 19-year-old told Williams after withdrawing from the tournament, via the BBC. "I hope we can play together again soon and finish what we started."

This week, Serena is set to play doubles at the German Open in Berlin with Czech player Karolína Muchová, the pair beginning their campaign on Tuesday, June 16.

"I'm pretty excited about it. It doesn't happen every day that such an amazing athlete, not only in tennis but overall in sport, asks you to play tennis with her," Muchová said ahead of their first match, via France 24. "I hope it's going to be fun."

Serena isn't ruling out a return to playing singles tennis again, either. She told reporters in a press conference before Queen's that she "can't say no," but admitted she might "need to train a little bit more."

Venus, 45,, who has won seven Grand Slams in her career, including five at Wimbledon, has lost all seven of the singles matches she's played this season, per the BBC, but she did win a doubles match at the Madrid Open in April.

She was set to play doubles with fellow American Hailey Baptiste at the French Open last month, too, returning to the tournament after a five-year hiatus.

However, they withdrew on the day of their first-round match. The reported that no reason was given by organizers at the time.
