The White House’s official X account shared what appears to be an AI-generated parody of Nicole Kidman’s iconic AMC Theatres commercial

The video, posted on Monday, Aug. 3, swaps the movie theater for the White House and rewrites Kidman’s famous monologue with references to the Trump administration

The White House isn’t the first to spoof the beloved ad, which has inspired less divisive tributes from stars like Olivia Rodrigo

Nicole Kidman’s iconic AMC Theatres commercial has gotten attention from President Donald Trump’s White House.

On Monday, Aug. 3, the White House’s official X account shared what appears to be an AI-generated video parodying the actress’s AMC ad, which first premiered in 2021. The video closely mirrors the structure of the original commercial, replacing the movie theater setting with the White House while keeping the same cinematic music and overall format.

Instead of Kidman, 59, walking through a rainy parking lot before stepping into an AMC theater, the parody follows a man wearing a red ā€œMake America Great Againā€ hat as he walks toward the White House.

The narration also closely echoes Kidman’s original monologue, with several lines rewritten to focus on the Trump administration.

The parody opens with, ā€œWe come to this place for MAGA, to fight, fight, fight, and win, win, win. Because we need that. All of us,ā€ a play on Kidman’s opening line, ā€œWe come to this place for magic. We come to AMC Theatres to laugh, to cry, to care. Because we need that. All of us.ā€

As the man walks through the White House, passing a portrait of Trump, the narrator continues, ā€œThe indescribable feeling we get when we hear the national anthem and stand together stronger than ever before,ā€ echoing Kidman’s line about ā€œthat indescribable feeling we get when the lights begin to dim, and we go somewhere we’ve never been before.ā€

The parody then shifts to clips of Trump presented as though they are being projected onto a movie screen.

ā€œUnder this administration, we’re going somewhere we’ve never been. We aren’t just watching history; we’re making it, rebuilding our country better than ever. A country where we don’t do heartbreak, we do victory,ā€ the narrator says.

In the original commercial, Kidman instead says audiences are ā€œnot just entertained but somehow reborn, together,ā€ before delivering the ad’s most recognizable line: ā€œSomehow heartbreak feels good in a place like this.ā€

The parody concludes, ā€œAn America that is safer, more secure, more prosperous, and any setbacks that stand in our way simply make the comeback that much sweeter.ā€

It ends with the narrator saying, ā€œWelcome to the golden age,ā€ as the letters MAGA appear onscreen in place of the AMC logo.

PEOPLE has reached out to AMC Theatres and Kidman for comment.

Kidman’s AMC commercial debuted in 2021 and quickly took on a life of its own, becoming one of the most recognizable movie theater spots in recent memory.

The actress later acknowledged the ad’s viral success, telling GQ in 2022, ā€œI can’t tell you why it worked or why it’s gone viral.ā€

ā€œBut what I can tell you is that the reaction is a direct result of the amount of people going back to theaters to enjoy the movies. And that is exciting,ā€ she added.

In an interview with Elle in 2024, Kidman said she agreed to film the commercial because she wanted to help encourage audiences to return to theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic.

ā€œIt was just the desire to keep cinemas alive,ā€ she said. ā€œI’ve had the best experiences in cinema. I’d pretend I was going to school; I’d forge a note, and I’d go and sit in a movie theater. That’s a safe haven for me, so the idea of those not existing — that’s just not part of the equation in my lifetime.ā€

She added, ā€œIf that’s what it takes, I’ll do whatever it takes. We have to have some more ideas for the next one.ā€

The White House is far from the first to put its own spin on the commercial, though it’s easily the most controversial spoof.

In 2024, Olivia Rodrigo recreated the ad in a TikTok filmed before one of her concerts, walking through Montreal’s Bell Centre while using Kidman’s original voiceover.

Kidman later shared the clip on her Instagram Stories, writing, ā€œYou just won me some major points with my girls! Adore you @oliviarodrigo xx.ā€

Trump’s White House has received significant criticism from celebrities for repeatedly putting a political spin on pop culture with a slew of controversial social media posts since he returned to office in January 2025.

Notably, several musicians have spoken out against the White House for using their songs without permission in videos supporting Trump’s military actions and aggressive immigration raids.
