The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, took the time to sign baseballs for fans who were waiting outside of Progressive Field ahead of his ceremonial first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians game, despite the matchup getting postponed due to inclement weather.

As seen in photos shared by fans across social media, Kelce — who announced in late May that he purchased a minority stake in his hometown major league baseball team — was all smiles while writing his signature for fans through the stadium gate on Sunday, June 14.

The tight end was wearing a blue and white striped t-shirt by Tommy Hilfiger, the fashion house that named the athlete a new global brand ambassador and creative collaborator on March 30 this year. He paired the top with jeans, a white Guardians hat and a gold wristwatch.

The Guardians were set to play the Detroit Tigers, but was rescheduled to a split doubleheader on Friday, Sept. 4 due to inclement weather, the team announced on social media a few hours before the game was supposed to start.

Kelce's planned first pitch was meant to honor the athlete for his minority stake purchase in the Guardians.

"I have so much love for this city," he previously told ESPN. "I say it all the time: I'm just a kid from the Heights living the dream. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic."

Kelce elaborated more about his decision to join the team while on his New Heights podcast on May 27.

"This is a way that I can always cement myself back into the east side of Cleveland," he told his brother Jason Kelce on the show. "It's a dream come true for a Cleveland kid. Any Cleveland kid would be through the roof right now and I'm happy to be the honorable one to get to do it for us."

"The opportunity came across the desk and I just couldn't say no," he said. "These guys gave me the opportunity to show my Cleveland love and plant my roots in Cleveland forever, no matter what. It's an awesome feeling knowing that a childhood kid who grew up on the east side is now part-owner of his favorite baseball team."

Kelce was certainly hoping for redemption, too, when he agreed to throw out the first pitch. In April 2023, the Chiefs star infamously botched the first pitch during a game between the Guardians and the Seattle Mariners.

The NFL star's forceful throw sent the ball straight to the ground before it quickly bounced back up, causing Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber to run for cover.

"Been spiking a football for the past 10 years… can you tell? 😂😂😂😂", the tight end wrote on Twitter after the throw.
