In a new interview, Tom Holland said he has "never felt so supported and safe" in his life before his relationship with Zendaya

The actor also confirmed that he and Zendaya have gotten married, ending months of speculation that they held a secret wedding

Holland and Zendaya both star in The Odyssey, in theaters July 17, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in theaters July 31

Tom Holland is opening up about the strength of his and Zendaya's relationship.

Holland, 30, appeared on the cover of Esquire U.K. in a story published on Tuesday, June 16. Before the actor confirmed that he and Zendaya, 29, have already held a wedding and are married, he spoke candidly about the confidence they have in each other.

"Our business can present very stressful situations and it's really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time," he said. "We can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it's like to live this life, and I think that is such a luxury, because I just don't understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else."

Holland and Zendaya famously first met when they costarred in the 2017 superhero movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. The couple went public with their romance in 2021, and PEOPLE first confirmed that they were engaged in January 2025.

They appeared together on the red carpet for the first time in four years in Madrid on Monday, June 15.

"So, for me, I found my person. She's my best friend, and I'm the happiest I ever have been when I'm with her, but I also have never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period," he told Esquire U.K. "Maybe when I was young with my parents and my dad was picking me up from school. Not to say that our relationship is like my mum and dad."

Elsewhere in the piece, Holland confirmed that he and Zendaya have gotten married, ending months of speculation initiated by Zendaya's stylist Law Roach's claim in March that the couple had already held a wedding.

When the outlet asked Holland whether he had to inform family members about images generated by artificial intelligence showing him and Zendaya supposedly at their wedding, the actor replied, "No, because they were all there."

"That's all you'll get on that," he said of the matter.

Holland has been on the press circuit in recent weeks as he promotes two major summer blockbusters: The Odyssey, in theaters July 17, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in theaters July 31. Both movies also feature Zendaya; she plays the Greek goddess Athena in The Odyssey and reprises her role as Michelle "M.J." Jones in Brand New Day.

"I think what I love about watching her work as an actress is she's just fearless," he said on Amy Poehler's podcast Good Hang on June 2, when asked what he has learned from working with Zendaya. "She's just absolutely ten toes down, like 'I'm going to give this everything.' I think when you watch her as Rue in [Euphoria], she could not be more different to who she is in real life."

He continued, "And then if you see her as Emma in The Drama, it's just such a different performance, but with no less intent or passion or drive. I think she's the best actor going, I really think she has something special."
