During a Q&A with Robert Downey Jr, Timothée Chalamet made a surprising revelation about working on the set of Marty Supreme

The star said that during the "motel sequence," a background actor told him, "You don't want to f--k with me, man"

Chalamet has won both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award for his portrayal of Marty Mauser

Timothée Chalamet is opening up about the experience of filming the ping pong drama, Marty Supreme.

The 30-year-old star took part in a Q&A with fellow actor Robert Downey Jr, 60, on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at New York’s DGA Theater, in which he spoke about one particularly memorable filming experience.

“I won't say who, but in that motel sequence, there are a lot of non-actors
that I find it really thrilling to work with, but sometimes it would take multiple takes to really get something out of them,” his anecdote began.

He continued, “And I'm really getting in the guy's face and I'm really trying to get him angry with me. I was saying to Josh [Safdie, the movie’s director], he’s not getting angry with me, he's not getting angry with me.

However, things then took a turn when the background actor turned the tables on Chalamet. “I did another take, and then the guy said, ‘I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don't want to f--k with me. You don't want to see me angry.”

Chalamet concluded his story with a nervous laugh, “I said to Josh, Holy shit, who do you have me opposite, man?”

And that’s not the only secret that has recently come to light about Marty Supreme. While speaking at London’s BFI Southbank, Safdie revealed that Robert Pattinson, 39, makes a secret, voice-only cameo in the movie.

"No one knows this, but that voice, the commentator, the umpire, is Pattinson," Safdie, 41, said, according to Complex. Safdie and Pattison worked together on the 2017 thriller Good Time, and the director called his hidden moment a subtle "Easter egg" embedded in the hit movie.

Marty Supreme — about an American table tennis star’s rise through the international circuit — also stars Odessa A'zion, Gwyneth Paltrow and Fran Drescher. But it is Chalamet who is earning most of the awards season buzz.

He's already earned the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award for his portrayal of Marty Mauser. A'zion was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at The Actor Awards.

When his name was announced as the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes on Jan. 12, Chalamet turned to kiss his girlfriend of three years, Kylie Jenner, 28, before shouting out those who have supported him in his career, including his costars, parents and the beauty entrepreneur.

"My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up, [To] always be grateful for what you have. It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here,” he said.

“I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much,” he concluded his speech.
