Steve Harrington is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters in Stranger Things, but many fans still missed this very sweet Steve and Robin moment from Season 5 Volume 2—until it went viral on social media, at least.
SPOILER—This post includes spoilers from Stranger Things Season 5Volume 2.
With the Stranger Things finale about to drop, this beloved, nearly 10-year-long show is almost wrapped up for good, which has meant an emotional Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the final season.
Even with the backlash to Volume 2 that's been ongoing since episodes 5, 6 and 7 were released, there's no denying all seven new episodes have been full of touching moments—from heartwarming to absolutely gutting.
However controversial it was, one of the most emotionally-charged scenes was Will's coming out speech in episode 7, during which he told a group of his friends and family that he didn't like girls. There were many characters in this scene (which is in part why some fans criticized it), so it's easy to miss what each character was doing as Will spoke.
Among the interactions that many Stranger Things fans seem to have missed upon the first watch of this episode was Steve at one point putting a supportive hand on Robin's shoulder.

This subtle action had a much greater meaning, as Steve is one of the very few characters to whom Robin has also come out—actually, it seems to just be Steve and Will currently, other than her girlfriend, Vickie.
Since this clip has spread on social media, fans have been reflecting on how sweet Steve's small gesture in this scene was, particularly because he was aware that he had to be subtle, as Robin hasn't come out publicly in the way that Will now has.
Likewise, fans have shared how meaningful it was to see Robin's reassuring nods to Will as he spoke and Will looking to Robin for support as he was talking. Even more eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a blink-and-you-miss-it moment in which Steve seems to be wiping a tear away towards the end of this scene.
Although Steve wasn't among the characters who got up to hug Will after he came out, and while he was silent throughout the scene, these moments make it clear that he is fully supportive of both Robin and Will—and fans are loving it.
