"I think the proof is in the pudding — I have not worked with him in years," Rogen said in a new June 2026 interview

In 2021, Rogen said he did not have any plans to work with him again after Franco settled a sexual misconduct lawsuit

Seth Rogen has "no plans" to reconnect with his former friend and collaborator James Franco.

During an interview with The New York Times, published Saturday, June 13, The Studio star admitted that he hasn't talked to his former Freaks and Greeks costar, 48, "in a long time," adding that he has no plans to work with him again.

"I honestly think the nuance of it is too personal for me to get into right now," Rogen, 44, said. "It is a very personal thing. There's the public-facing side of it, which I've spoken about, and I have the same stance publicly that I've had, and I think the proof is in the pudding — I have not worked with him in years."

Emphasizing that the "personal side" of their relationship involves people he doesn't know he should be "dragging into this," Rogen told the outlet that he would prefer not to harp on how their relationship has changed since Franco was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior by five women in a 2018 Los Angeles Times article.

"Nothing has changed since the last time I talked about all this," he said. "I haven't worked with him in a really long time and I have no plans to."

In October 2024, Franco told Variety that he and Rogen had not been in touch for quite some time.

"I haven't talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it's over," he said at the time. "And not for lack of trying. I've told him how much he's meant to me."

While the two frequently collaborated on projects like Freaks and Geeks, The Pineapple Express and The Disaster Artist, Franco's career stalled after two of his former acting students filed a sexual misconduct lawsuit in 2019. He settled the lawsuit in 2021, and records obtained by PEOPLE at the time showed that he agreed to pay $2.235 million in the settlement.

"Being told you're bad is painful," Franco said. "But ultimately, that's kind of what I needed to just stop going the way I was going."

In 2021, Rogen said that it wasn't a "coincidence" that his professional relationship with Franco seemingly ended after the sexual harassment controversy.

"What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that," Rogen told The Sunday Times that May. "It has changed many things in our relationship and our dynamic."
