Donald Trump trashed the players he beat to win the club championship at his Bedminster, and "brutal honesty" comes with the territory of playing with the president.
That's according to PGA Tour star Sam Burns, who made the trip to Mar-a-Lago to play with Trump at one of his many courses. The president owns an impressive portfolio of courses around the globe, and he claims to have won 43 club championships, though the legitimacy of his wins has long faced significant scrutiny and allegations of cheating.
Trump claimed his latest titles at Trump National Bedminster in New Jersey last week, finishing atop the leaderboard in both the senior and super senior categories with a score of 70. He reacted by taunting his beaten opponents in a savage post on Truth Social.

The 80-year-old has played with plenty of top pros over the years, including world No. 11 Burns, who opened up on his experience in an appearance on the 'Subpar' podcast last year.
"People ask, 'What's he like?' He's exactly how you'd think he would be," Burns said. "He's exactly what you see on TV: brutally honest. He's very open; you can pretty much ask him anything.

"And he loves golf. He has some really funny stories, so it's pretty cool to listen to. I asked him some stuff. I wasn't sure if he would answer or not, but he did.

"On any hole, there's close to 20 carts. If you're paying attention and looking, you'll see snipers, Secret Service everywhere. It's funny, [because] I don't know if this is the safest place or the most dangerous place in the world to be. I think it's kind of both at the same time."
While the credibility of Trump's club championships is in question, he clearly has impressive skills for a man of his age. Grace and modesty have never been strengths, though.
"I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I'm given very little time to practice, because I'm focused on many other things," he rambled in his braggadocious social media post. "It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!"
Much like his other wins, his double victory at Bedminster has attracted the doubting eyes of critics. Scott McConnell claims to be a member at one of Trump's courses, and he believes it is impossible that Trump won without some shenanigans.
"Trump is legit a pretty good amateur golfer," he posted on X. "I'm a member of one of his clubs so I've seen him play many times.
"He probably was a 4 or 5 [handicap] in his prime. He's 80, and drives it about 180 yards now. No one like that can win a senior club championship in any universe."
