Perez Hilton’s podcast co-host, Chris Booker, spoke out for the first time after the blogger’s hospitalization and disturbing livestream

“I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they’re all going through,” wrote Booker in an Aug. 5 statement. “It’s truly unimaginable”

Perez Hilton’s podcast co-host is speaking out in the wake of the blogger’s hospitalization and disturbing livestream on TikTok.

Hilton, 48, was hospitalized on Tuesday, Aug. 4, after the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) responded to reports of an individual who was livestreaming “acts of self-harm” at his home in Miami, authorities previously told PEOPLE.

In a statement shared to his Instagram account on Aug. 5, radio personality Chris Booker — who has hosted The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker alongside Hilton since 2015 — addressed the news and the future of their projects together.

“I am so profoundly sad for Perez and his family and what they’re all going through,” he opened his statement. “It’s truly unimaginable.”

Booker went on to share that he had spoken “only briefly” with Hilton’s family, adding that they were “struggling to get updates due to the confidential security measure in place at the hospital because of how many people are trying to get information.”

The radio host added that their podcast together was “all TBD at the moment as our collective focus is on his health.”

“I certainly hope to continue them with my friend when the time is appropriate,” he said. “I will give updates there when the time is right. We’ve done these shows for over a decade now and the support from our listeners has been resounding.”

Concluded Booker: “He is very loved. I can only hope that he feels it. Heal up friend.”

In a statement shared to Hilton’s website on Aug. 5, his family gave an update on his condition, saying that the internet personality “is able to communicate,” which had left them with “hope.”

MDSO previously confirmed to PEOPLE that Hilton was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act — a state law that allows authorities to hold someone involuntarily for a period of time if they pose a threat of harm to themselves or others.

His TikTok account was also banned, and the platform alerted law enforcement to his livestream, a U.S. spokesperson for TikTok confirmed to PEOPLE.

Representatives for Hilton said in an Aug. 5 statement that they did not “have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition,” and they have not commented further to PEOPLE.

In June, Hilton told his followers that he and his children were moving from Las Vegas to Miami to be closer to his mother. He admitted in a YouTube video later that month, however, that he was struggling with the move.

“I was in a bit of a spiral, because I was overwhelmed with our move to Miami and I didn’t do these things that I know are good for me,” he said. Hilton went on to describe how he was working to improve his mental health by going to the gym and putting in “effort” with his faith, attending a two-hour service at a new church.

“I was a little bit anxious, but more soothed and inspired and centered than anything,” Hilton said at the time.

Hilton also shared in March that he had emergency surgery after a hospitalization for severe sepsis. The next month, the blogger posted an update on social media, telling his fans he could “finally walk again.”

“Thank GOD that I can finally walk again — slowly,” he added in part. “And, though the pain is still very pronounced, I can tolerate it — and do this all without meds. Amen!! Every day will get easier and I will get stronger!!! And so it shall be!”
