The actress, 52, remembers the kindness of her castmates and what she's taken away from the experience
Lark Voorhies looks back fondly on her time as Lisa Turtle.
Speaking with PEOPLE in a recent catch-up, the actress, 52, talked about how playing Lisa Turtle — first on Good Morning, Miss Bliss and later, on Saved by the Bell — helped shape her as an actress.
"I learned how to drive the performance that made Lisa Turtle funny. Bringing that energy to life every week was the most fun part for me," she tells PEOPLE.
"I also enjoyed being around the cast, who really made it feel like home. Having the support of a strong cast & crew really made it a stable place to hone my craft."

Voorhies has continued love and respect for her castmates, recalling an unexpected cast member who has gone above and beyond in his support of her: Dennis Haskins, now 75.
"On the last season of Saved by the Bell, Dennis Haskins gave me a Luther Vandross CD and a big teddy bear," she shared.

Voorhies surprisingly admits that, despite being synonymous with Lisa Turtle's killer fashion choices, none of the stylish outfits ever came home with her.
"I didn't keep any of the wardrobe, but I am very open to collaborating with designers today to continue building Lisa's iconic wardrobe legacy," she shares.
"I know Lisa, the character, would just love that, and so would I."

If she had to go back in time and snag one of Lisa's outfits, Voorhies says, "I am definitely grabbing the cowgirl outfit with the matching boots. Of course, I'm always an evening gown type of girl, but Lisa Turtle didn't have many of those on the set."
