President Donald Trump has made an unusual remark suggesting LeBron James could play in the WNBA. The comment came as the former linked his well-known preference for Michael Jordan over James to his stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports. Needless to say, the comment is gaining traction all over social media.

Donald Trump’s question to LeBron James is drawing attention

The president said he would approach LeBron James with an unusual question. “It doesn’t matter, I’d say, ‘LeBron, did you ever have any desire to be a woman? Because what I’d love you to do is star on my team that I’m building up,” Donald Trump said. He added that this hypothetical team would dominate every opponent. “I will have the greatest team in history. They’ll never lose. Nobody will come within 70 points of this team.”

Trump also claimed he would make an ideal coach for women’s basketball. “I’d be the greatest women’s basketball coach in history because I don’t like LeBron James,” he said. “I like Michael Jordan much better.” This is not the first time Trump has weighed in on basketball rankings.

Following LeBron James’ decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers for his 24th NBA season, Trump was asked about the greatest player of all time. He favored Jordan over James, citing their personal friendship. “Well, Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine. He’s a really good guy,” Trump said.

He then remarked on James. “And I think LeBron… Maybe he’s a racist, but maybe he doesn’t like Trump. I don’t know. I only like people that like me, so I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”

Trump’s comment about James as a woman comes in spite of no transgender athletes currently playing in the WNBA. The league does not have a transgender player on any roster, and no transgender athletes are competing at the top levels of college basketball either.
