Donald Trump has left people speechless after sharing his favorite movie of the year, and it's probably not what you'd expect.

Without even a slight smirk, Trump, who has recently been compared to Mrs Doubtfire due to his hair, alleged that the "number one movie of the year" is one that proved not to be very popular, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 10%. So, of course, it's not Project Hail Mary or 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

No, the President of the United States' favorite movie of the year, which he described as "the best," is actually Melania, starring none other than the First Lady, Melania Trump, and people were confused.

Trump described his wife as "very elegant" and added: "Melania says hello to everybody, by the way".

"She did a movie, I think that it was number one movie of the year, can you believe it?" Trump continued, and the crowd cheered for it.

The movie in question is the self-titled 'Melania,' which has a 10% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a rating of just 1.6/10 on IMDb.

The Amazon MGM Studios film "offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration - through the eyes of the First Lady herself".

People are said to be able to "step inside Melania Trump's world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and moves her family back to the Nation's Capital," with "exclusive footage throughout".

But while the movie purports to reveal much about Melania's life, critics have noted the opposite. In fact, it "reveals very little about her".

A critic wrote: "Shallow, sycophantic and absent a single unguarded moment, ‘Melania’ is a near-two-hour infomercial disguised as a documentary. What’s the movie actually worth as entertainment? I’ll start the bidding at two cents".

Another penned: "Its defining trait is that it's numbingly, agonizingly dull".

However, some audience members shared that they really enjoyed it, describing it as a "cool concept," saying Melania is "funny, cool, and also serious".

"A visual design treat," another fan shared, which Donald Trump obviously wholeheartedly agrees with.

Donald Trump's favorite movies

It's not the first time that the President has discussed which movies he's a big fan of. Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane are some of his favorites from the Golden Age of Hollywood, which are pretty different choices to the Melania movie!

Trump also admitted that he likes a good gangster flick. The LA Times reported: "Before following his father into real estate, Trump at one point harbored dreams of being a studio mogul not unlike the ones who had made those movies. After graduating from New York Military Academy in 1964, Trump briefly considered attending USC’s film school."

But "in the end," he decided that "real estate was a much better business," although he's previously taken to the screen as himself, in Home Alone 2 and Zoolander.
