Every Year After just premiered, but it's already time to say goodbye to Barry's Bay — for now.
The new Prime Video series based on the book Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, debuted on June 10 — with all eight episodes dropping at once. Every Year After follows first loves Sam (Matt Cornett) and Percy (Sadie Soverall), who fall back into each other's lives when they return to the lakeside town of Barry's Bay.
Throughout the season, secrets about their pasts are revealed, leading to relationships — both familial and romantic — fracturing.
"Our show is a show of relationships, and so I'm really excited to see where all the relationships end up, especially in the next season," actor Michael Bradway, who plays Sam's older brother Charlie, told E! News in June 2026.

Do Percy and Sam end up together?

Every Year After doesn't end with Percy and Sam as a couple, but they seem to be heading toward a romantic reconciliation.
During the season finale, titled "Goodbye...," Percy and Sam spend the night together after the memorial for his mother Sue (Elisha Cuthbert). However, Sam makes it clear he's still hurting after finding out that Percy previously slept with his brother, Charlie.
"I want so much to forgive you," he says. "But I don't think I can do this."
After returning to Seattle, Percy finds the keys to Sue's Tavern in the mail, as she left it to Percy in her will.
The next summer, Percy and Delilah (Abigail Cowen) are readying to reopen the Tavern. While Sam doesn't show up to the opening party, he comes afterwards, while Percy is washing dishes in the kitchen.
"You came home," she tells him. The two stare and smile at one another as "Here You Come Again" by Willa Amai and Dolly Parton plays.
"I am excited to hopefully see [Percy and Sam] come together and reconcile what happened and have a real honest conversation with each other," Cornett told E! News in June 2026. "I do think that obviously things can be fixed, but I think that there is a lot of talking that needs to happen. I think that they need to be able to become friends again first, before they can even consider moving forward as a couple."
Cornett added that in a potential season 2, Percy and Sam's relationship will "almost have to start from the ground up."
Do Chantal and Jordie become a couple?

Throughout the season, Percy's best friend Chantal (Aurora Perrineau) has been developing feelings for Jordie (Joseph Chiu), Sam's friend. In the season finale, the two become an item.

Previously, Chantal had said she was not trying "to define" what she and Jordie are — but in the finale, they agree to make things official.
While sitting at the bar of the recently reopened Tavern, Jordie suggests they become a couple. Following some playful hesitation from Chantal, Jordie tells her, "I'm not asking you to be anyone different. I'm just asking you to be you with me."
She nods her head in agreement, and they kiss.
Are Sam and Charlie still estranged?

Yes, Sam and his brother Charlie are still estranged at the end of season 1 of Every Year After.
Their relationship is forever changed after it is revealed that Percy and Charlie had slept together years earlier. Charlie attempts to make amends at Sue's memorial — however, Sam rebuffs him, telling him, "We're orphans — and now I don't even have you."
What happens to Delilah?

When viewers met Delilah — Percy's childhood friend with whom she'd had a falling out — she was unhappily married, having an affair with Charlie and aiming to purchase the Tavern to develop into an upscale, membership-based establishment.
But throughout the season, that all changes. Delilah becomes single, repairs her relationship with Percy and allows her friend to take control of the Tavern.
However, Delilah's romance may be coming. While checking on customers at the restaurant, she sees Jordie, her former flame, kissing Chantal — and Delilah doesn't look happy.
Does Charlie die?

One year after Sue's memorial, Charlie and Sam are still estranged. Subsequently, Charlie throws himself into work as a stock trader when one day, he walks into his boss' office and recognizes a photo of himself on the wall.
"This is crazy, but I'm pretty sure that's me," Charlie tells his boss, who explains that his wife who bought the picture at a gallery. "It's me, my brother and Percy in my dad's boat. It's at the lake we grew up on. I wonder who took this."
In the final moments of the episode, Charlie later goes back into the office to take another look at the photograph. While examining it, he experiences a medical emergency, grabbing his left arm and throat. He falls to the floor while gasping for air.
In One Golden Summer — Fortune's sequel — readers learn that Charlie has a heart condition. "I read the book One Golden Summer very early on when we were filming," Bradway told E! News in June 2026. "And so I knew that Charlie had a heart attack."
He continued, saying, "Obviously, there's a big scene with Charlie. I don't know what happens next. I'm excited to learn as a fan."
While fans may not know what happens to Charlie in the series, in the book, he goes on to have a love story of his own.
