Commanders' Treylon Burks appreciates having Jayden Daniels as his QB

Washington Commanders wide receiver Treylon Burks is entering his second year with the team after a rough start to his career with the Tennessee Titans. Burks' first three years in the NFL were marred by injury, which is what caused the Titans to decline his fifth-year option and eventually waive him in the fall of 2025.
Shortly after he was waived, the Commanders signed Burks to the practice squad, elevating him to the main roster when Luke McCaffrey went down with a season-ending injury. Entering his second year with the Commanders, the 2026 training camp is in his first training camp with the team. After practice on Tuesday, Burks answered a few questions before he left the field.
First question: What's it like to add new things on a daily basis? "It's hard," Burks says. "We already had 40 other plays the day before, so you have to memorize them and then add 40 plays on top of that that night. And so it's a grind, but we're grateful for it, and that's why we come out here and put it on the practice field to perfect it. We know we'll fail here and there, but as long as you just keep getting back up, everything else will take care of itself."
No matter what activity or sport we're talking about, practice is essential to achieving perfection. And in that practice, you will absolutely fail from time to time. How you bounce back, how you recover, sets the tone for your mindset going forward.

After talking about how everyone is learning at the same time and perfecting the plays to how Jayden Daniels and David Blough want it, Burks is asked what it's like to work with Daniels.
"Man, words can't really explain the kid," Burks says. "He's outstanding. God definitely put his hand on him and has his hand on him. He's just going to keep getting better and better each day, man, and I can't wait to experience it."
During Burks' junior year at Alabama, he became just the fourth player in program history to record over 1,000 yards receiving in a single season. His start in the NFL has been difficult; he's faced adversity at every turn and overcome that adversity every time. Despite that, he continues to present as his usual laid-back self to the media while working his tail off on the field to earn as much playing time as he can.
Last season, Burks appeared in only eight games for the Commanders, and he recorded 10 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. If he can keep his 13 yards-per-reception average in 2026, we're going to see great things from this receiver.
