- Anna Faris said that she was "feeling sad" and overwhelmed by "the scrutiny" during her divorce from Chris Pratt in 2017.
- The actress said that her podcast *Unqualified* "helped me a lot during that time."
- Faris explained that she "wanted an avenue outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people."
Anna Faris is reflecting on moving through the pain of her divorce from Chris Pratt.
The *Scary Movie* actress candidly discussed the emotional tumult she experienced at the end of her relationship with her *Take Me Home Tonight* costar, who filed for a divorce in 2017 after eight years of marriage.
"I was feeling sad. *Sad*," Faris told *Variety*. "I do feel like I had enough gumption, enough of a core, and I have tried to be careful about how much Hollywood infiltrates, but now I've been on a spectrum of fame for 26 years, so I would be naïve to think that it hasn't shaped who I am at this point. But, f---. The scrutiny."

Faris said that one particular project helped her through the divorce — and it wasn't a movie or a TV show. "I'm lucky that at that time I had my podcast," she said in reference to *Unqualified*, an advice podcast she hosted from 2015 to 2023. "That goes back to the talk radio. I wanted, like, four people to listen and to build my own secret community. I wanted an avenue outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people."
The podcast saw Faris interview other entertainers and field questions from listeners seeking advice. The actress said that the show was inspired by her love of discussing personal topics in short bursts.
"I used to do this thing on ski lifts where, if I was on a ski lift with a stranger, I'd say, 'Do you want to have a really intense ten-minute conversation with me? And you can answer any question you want to,'" she told *Variety*. "And I'd ask them questions like, 'When was the first time you fell in love?' I've had a constant desire to connect with people."

Faris noted that she didn't divulge much about her personal life on the show. "I didn't disclose a lot on the podcast, but I always felt like I could if I needed to," she reflected. "The podcast helped me a lot during that time, and it made me think: I know I could be happy if I'm writing, because I've always loved that, and maybe that's an avenue to make money. I was thinking of a version of retirement."

The *Mom* actress also said that she feels like she's in the midst of a comeback. "But now, I feel like the opportunities are more bountiful than they've ever been!" she said. "I'm just overwhelmed with gratitude. When people see me, they usually smile and say, 'Oh, I love *The House Bunny*!' or 'Oh, I love *Scary Movie*!' or '*Mom* helped me through that hard time.'"

Faris previously told EW how powerful it felt to reunite with Marlon Wayans on the new *Scary Movie*. "I felt valued in a way that I never thought the franchise would give me," she says. "It felt very, very, very meaningful and powerful to me to be able to look at Marlon in particular and be like, 'Dude, I love you. Your family gave me something huge. And I'm beloved by association.' It made me feel like I'm a big part of an even bigger thing, whatever that is. And I really feel — it makes me choked up."
