It's official: Erin Doherty is having a great start to her year.

At the 2026 Golden Globes, the Adolescence star won the trophy for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, as she gave therapists a special shoutout after being bleeped by CBS when she went on stage to accept the award.

The actress, who earned the award for her performance as child psychologist Briony Ariston in the breakout Netflix series, opened her speech by appearing to reveal that she "made a promise to my mom" that she wouldn't say the word "f---." And while part of her sentiment was bleeped out by the network, the swear word remained on air.

Ultimately, Doherty offered a cheeky apology to her mother, thanked her fellow Adolescence cast mates and collaborators and showed some love to therapists.

"The second group that I would just love to dedicated this to are therapists," Doherty said as the audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, Jan. 11.

She added, "I just think life can be tough. Mental health is everything. So thank you to therapists and it was an honor to play one. Thank you so much."

Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus), Carrie Coon (The White Lotus), Catherine O'Hara (The Studio), Hannah Einbinder (Hacks) and Parker Posey (The White Lotus) were also nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television at this year's awards show.

Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller and Erin Doherty as Briony Ariston in 'Adolescence'.

Doherty is a first-time nominee in the category. She played Briony Ariston in the breakout Netflix hit, which followed 13-year-old Jamie (Owen Cooper), who is accused of murdering a girl at his school. She told The Hollywood Reporter that the idea of winning at the Globes was a "fever dream" after her win at the Emmys in September.

“My agent called me and was like, ‘You’ve got the nom.’ I was like, ‘Is everyone going to be there?’" she told the outlets, referring to her costars Cooper and Stephen Graham. "Those things have always been this strange, otherworldly thing, [so] my immediate reaction is: ‘Are we going to have a gorgeous night together? Are the comfort blankets going to be there?'”

Last weekend on Jan. 4, she also snagged the Critics Choice Award for her performance.

The Globes proved to be a big night for the cast of Adolescence. On Sunday, Graham, 52, similarly won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television, while Cooper, 16, won for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television.

Carrie Coon in 'The White Lotus' season 3

It was also Coon's first time being nominated. Coon played Laurie, the often odd-one-out amongst her friends, Jacyln (Michelle Monaghan) and Kate (Leslie Bibb) in The White Lotus. The trio were in Thailand on a girls' trip sponsored by Jaclyn, a famous Hollywood actress, in season 3.

She told Gold Derby that "the women were the sneaky, secret heart" of the season, and said, "I think I really understood that Mike [White] had snuck this beautiful little golden egg inside of a challenging season that was about death."

Coon, 44, told the outlet she felt "spoiled" by her nomination at the Globes.

Hannah Einbinder in 'Hacks' season 4

Einbinder was nominated for the fourth time for her role as Ava in Hacks. Her costar, Jean Smart, was also nominated, and the show itself is up for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy.

The nomination came on the heels of her win at the Emmys in September, her first-ever, and she made a tearful speech after winning as she joked, "I was just really committed to the personal narrative that I had that it’s actually cooler to continue to lose. I was pretty committed to that. Had to be, right? But, this is cool too. This is also a punk rock.”

Hacks and its creators, she said, “chang[ed] my life in every conceivable way. but not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family.”

She also confirmed at the awards show that the comedy would conclude after its upcoming fifth season.

Parker Posey in Season 3 of 'The White Lotus'.

Posey is the final White Lotus season 3 star to be nominated in the category. It marks her second nomination, but comes more than 20 years later. She was nominated in 2003 for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a series, limited series or movie made for television for Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay.

The actress, 57, played spoiled North Caroline housewife Victoria Ratliff in the show, mom to Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sam Nivola and Sarah Catherine Hook, and wife of the equally troublemaking Jason Isaacs.

She was awarded the Legend Tribute at the 2025 Gotham TV Awards in June for the role, and thanked the show's creator in her speech for "writing this character for me, for believing in a middle aged woman, and believing in a legend."
