Wonka (2023)
While entertaining for the purposes of a family-friendly film, Wonka isnât necessarily the strongest title in Chalametâs oeuvre. That said, Chalamet gives it his all in a performance that steps outside of his usual comfort zone. He plays a zany younger version of Willy Wonka, the famed chocolatier from Roald Dahlâs beloved childrenâs classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The prequel movie musicalâwhich also stars Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, Olivia Colman as a hotel owner, and Natasha Rothwell as Wonkaâs coworkerâshows Wonkaâs fantastical origin story.

The French Dispatch (2021)
In this Wes Anderson anthology film about the farewell issue of a French publication, Chalamet shares the screen with a star-studded ensemble cast, including the likes of Benicio del Toro, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, and Frances McDormand. Chalametâs performance occurs in the second portion of the film, the leader of a student revolution who has a brief but impactful dalliance with a journalist. While fans of the director will certainly enjoy Andersonâs signature eccentricities, The French Dispatchâs series of disconnected vignettes dims in comparison to some of Chalametâs other works.

Donât Look Up (2021)
Chalamet is but one star in a sea of A-listers in Donât Look Up, a satirical black comedy about two astronomers (Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio) on a mission to warn global governments about a comet that threatens to decimate the planet (the comet is a not-so-thinly-veiled metaphor for climate change). Chalamet plays the boyish Yule, a shoplifting skateboarder who begins a romance with Lawrenceâs character. Others in the cast include Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, and Ariana Grande.

Bones and All (2022)
Chalamet reunited with Call Me by Your Name director Luca Guadagnino for this romantic horror film about two young cannibals who fall in love with each other. Chalamet plays Lee, one such âeaterâ who embarks on a cross-country road trip with Maren (Taylor Russell), a woman who shares his perverse dietary needs. Both Chalamet and Russell deliver arresting performances as an infatuated young couple, but the filmâs premise may not align well with audiences who have queasy stomachs.

Lady Bird (2017)
Greta Gerwigâs beloved coming-of-age drama Lady Bird follows a Sacramento teenage girl named Christineâcharismatically played by Saoirse Ronanâwho is learning how to balance her lofty dreams with her familyâs reality. One of her rites of passage into womanhood is sex, an experience that proves to be disappointing thanks to Chalametâs Kyle, a popular student who treats Christine poorly. Gerwigâs tender direction treats Christineâs adolescent journey with the same level of seriousness as any other cinematic epic, infusing the coming-of-age genre with fresh style and wit.

Call Me By Your Name (2018)
Luca Guadagninoâs Call Me by Your Name is widely considered as Chalametâs breakout roleâand for good reason. Interstellar (2014)
Simply put, Interstellar is an utter feat of filmmaking. The Christopher Nolan-helmed sci-fi epic follows a group of astronauts on a mission to discover a planet that humans can live in as Earth faces the brink of total ecological collapse. Matthew McConaughey stars as Coop, one of the astronauts who, in joining this mission, leaves behind his two children on Earth. Chalametâs performance as Coopâs teenage son Tom is fleeting (he eventually gets replaced by Casey Affleck, who plays the adult version of Tom), but resonates with anyone familiar with the adolescent pangs of carrying responsibilities beyond your years. As a whole, the film is impossible to look away from, complete with astonishingly emotional performances from McConaughey and fellow cast members Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Michael Caine.

Dune: Part Two (2024)
The second Dune installment explores Paulâs arc as he integrates into Fremen society. Villeneuve does the impossible by not only making a worthy follow-up to the impressive initial installment of Dune, but also creating a film that somehow exceeds all of the expectations set by the first. Part Two racked up five Oscar nominations, winning a total of two.

Marty Supreme (2025)
If you somehow have yet to be convinced of TimothĂ©e Chalametâs movie star prowess, then Marty Supreme will at last convince you otherwise. The Josh Safdie-led movie draws on all of the actorâs strengths as he steps into the role of Marty Mauser (a character loosely based off of the real-life Marty Reisman), a young man willing to do almost anything to prove heâs a champion in the world of table tennis. Ping pong may not seem like the most intense premise for an action thriller, but Chalametâs chaotic energy and sincere devotion drives the momentum of the film. As we head into another awards season, thereâs no doubt that weâll get to see a lot more of Marty Supreme in the near future.
